CIZ Special Project

Titusville Regional Literacy Council, in partnership with Titusville Area School District, the United Way of the Titusville Region, FCCA Twin Creeks Head Start, and the YMCA Tiny Footsteps Childcare Program, received a 2 ½ year Community Innovation Zone (CIZ) Grant.  The overall “vision” of this collaboration is that “all families in the Titusville Area School District will be aware of and empowered to engage in early learning programs and resources for children birth to age 5 to ensure success in school and life.”  TRLC aims to reduce achievement gaps and ensure that all children are school ready by age 5 In the following ways:

  • establishing and supporting collaboration among all early childhood educational programs within the Titusville area through the Early Childhood Education Leadership Council
  • finding and facilitating different educational resources geared towards parents of children aged birth to school-age, and giving parents a platform to learn about these resources and share a “voice” in their children’s education through the Early Childhood Education Parent Council
  • connecting families with children aged birth to school-age with early childhood educational programs in the area and community agencies in order to help ensure their children’s future successes

Both the Leadership Council and the Parent Council meet every other month.
